?? Mayor Adams has declared a Local State of Emergency for New York City, effective immediately, Thursday, July 31, 2025, due to heavy rain and flash flooding.
?
The order remains in effect through Friday, August 1, at 8 a.m.
?
Flash flooding can happen with little or no warning. Water can rise quickly, blocking roads, subways, and emergency access.
?
Immediate actions for all New Yorkers:
? Avoid all non-essential travel until Friday morning. Use public transit only if travel is unavoidable.
? If you live in a basement or flood-prone ground-floor apartment, relocate now. Do not wait for water to enter.
? NYPD precincts are open if you have no safe higher-floor or higher-ground options.
City agencies are fully mobilized to protect public safety and maintain critical operations.
? Alternate Side of the Street parking rules will be suspended on Friday, August 1, to facilitate weather operations. Parking meters will remain in effect.
